SALTAIRE BREWERY

Picture

The brewery

Saltaire Brewery takes its name from the World Heritage Site of Saltaire, near Shipley in West Yorkshire.  Fitting for an area renowned for its Victorian industrial heritage, the brewery is housed in a former generating hall, which used to provide the electricity for the Bradford trams.  In keeping with this landscape,  the company's logo and pump clips depict a Northern mill.   Since it's inception in 2005 by former lawyer Tony Gartland and chemist Derek Todd, the brewery has gained national and international recognition, and is one of the area's most popular breweries.

What beers are here?

The brewery's most popular beer is Saltaire Blonde (4%), a straw-coloured light ale is which is available in cask, keg and bottle.  Also in the core range are Cascade Pale Ale (4.8%), Saltaire Pride (3.9%) and Tykes Gold (4.4%). Ales with a fruity twist include Elderberry Blonde and Raspberry Blonde (both 4%) and Blackberry Cascade (4.8%).  These beers are supplemented by seasonals and specials which include Hazelnut Coffee Porter(4.6%) and the award-winning Triple Chocoholic (4.8%) speciality stout.

Where to try
You can look out for Saltaire beers across the North, but they are often available at The Stubbing Wharf and Old Gate in Hebden Bridge, The Wuthering Heights in Stanbury, The Fleece in Haworth and The Swan at Crimble in Slaithwaite. Bottled varieties can be bought in all major supermarkets across Yorkshire and at farm shops including Keelham and Robinson's Farm Shop in Halifax.

The  brewery is  home  to the famous monthly Beer Club and its stylish bar  hosts events and private parties.
