The Church Inn, Uppermill![]() The Pub: Situated at the head of a steep wooded valley, the Church Inn takes its name from the magnificent neo-gothic St Chads next door.
The Beer: The Church is home of Saddleworth Brewery, so the ale is very, very local! What else we like here: The Church has many links with the local community: bell ringers and morris dancers meet here and the pub plays a role in the annual Rush Cart Festival. Before and after: Try the Saddleworth circular walk for a glimpse of weavers' cottages and surrounding countryside. The Diggle Hotel, Diggle![]() The Pub: Situated close to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the Diggle Hotel is built on the site of a 15th Century alehouse.

There is a good selection of old photos and local history on the walls. Before and after: There are a number of trails around Diggle. Have a look at our Walk Cycle Ride website for routes. The Beer: Thwaites of Blackburn is always on, with changing guests from Ossett, Copper Dragon and others. The Ram's Head Inn, Denshaw

The Pub: A 450-year old moorland inn, with real fires and views across Piethorne and Ogden Reservoirs.
The Beer: Real ale from Timothy Taylor and Yorkshire's Black Sheep Brewery are always available, but the Ram's reputation as a gastro-pub means there is also a good selection of wines and spirits.
What else we like here: Adjacent to the pub and restaurant is The Pantry, a shop selling groceries and fresh produce sourced from within a 50 mile radius. The Ram's Head is on the Pennine Bridleway, so a good choice for bikers and horseriders, as well as being on the Littleborough to Marsden walking route.
