NOOK BREWHOUSE

Picture
The brewery
The former Rose and Crown in Holmfirth, now known as the Nook, has always been a real ale haven, boasting more entries in the Good Beer Guide than any other pub in Yorkshire.  In 2009, the owners - siblings Ian Roberts and Sheila Dutton -  opened the Nook Brewhouse in the pub's back yard, and so began a new chapter in the Nook's association with good beer.

What beers are here?
The Nook produces five core beers: citrussy award-winning Blond (4.5%), liquorice-toned Oat Stout (5.2%); Best; the ruby-coloured Red (4.5%); and the first beer produced on site, Yorks (3.7%).  These are complemented by many others including Bee's Knees (3.9%), which is brewed using Yorkshire honey,  Nook'y Brown Ale (4.9%) and the flavoursome Cherry Stout (5.2%). All the distinctive pump clips are designed by local cartoonist Ben Simpson and special ales are produced to mark events including Holmfirth Arts Festival.

Where to try
There is always a variety of Nook beers available in the Nook bar and in the adjoining restaurant, Carniceria.  Bottled beers are available from Cannon Hall Farm Shop and Hinchliffes Farm Shop.  Gift packs are also available and if you become a big Nook fan, you can always buy the t-shirt!

Did you know?
Historical research has revealed that there was brewing on the site of the current pub as far back as the 17th century.  What's more, those brewers had the family name of Roberts too!
