ILKLEY BREWERY

Picture
The brewery
Ilkley Brewery
was established by Stewart Ross and Chris Ives almost 100 years after the spa town's original brewery closed. The two friends are both passionate about beer and decided on a mid-life career change to create ales of quality and character.

What beers are here?
Ilkley Brewery's range comprises four core beers and a number of seasonal and specials. They also produce a range of three keg beers which are becoming popular. With names like Ilkley Black (3.7%), Ilkley Gold (3.9%), Ilkley Pale (4.2%), there's no mistaking where the beers come from.  And the pale, crisp Mary Jane (3.5%) and the seasonal Mary Christmas are named after the character in the famous Ilkley Moor Baht' At song. Ilkley Jubilee was brewed following a visit by the Princess Royal in the spring of 2012.

Where to try
Ilkley Brewery beers are regularly available at pubs spanning the Dales and the South Pennines, including Bar Tat in Ilkley and The Fleece in Addingham but can also be found as far afield as London.  Bottled beers can be found in Booths, Asda, Morrisons and Harvey Nichols.

Did you know?
Part of the brewery's ethos is to work in partnership with other local businesses, so look out for food/drink collaborations with Lishman's Butchers and Exquisite Handmade Cakes. Stewart and Chris have also worked with beer writers Melissa Cole and Pete Brown and have found a loyal fan in Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
