HOLMFIRTH VINEYARD

Picture
The brewery
Yes, we know it's not a brewery and it doesn't produce beer, but we had to include Holmfirth Vineyard as it's so unique!  Situated on a former sheep farm in a beautiful hillside location in the Holme Valley, Holmfirth Vineyard was opened by owners Ian and Rebecca Sheveling in 2009.  They had previously lived life in the fast lane (Rebecca literally so as she was a Formula 1 engineer) and gave it all up to grow grapes in Yorkshire countryside known for its Summer Wine connections.

What wines are here?
Five different varieties of grape - Rondo, Regent, Acolon, Ortega and Solaris - have been chosen for their suitability to cooler climates and are all planted by hand at the vineyard.  The vineyard produces a rose in addition to white and red wines.

Where to try
The wine can be bought in the on-site restaurant, where Afternoon Tea is also available.  The Vineyard also holds tours and tastings and runs an Adopt a Vine scheme.
